Chapter 3: Kisora

Gohan lent over his desk, working. It wasn’t really necessary, the colony supported anyone who could fight, but Gohan prefered to be earning his keep. Fighting wasn’t exactly his first choice in occupations. He turned off the desk lamp, leaning back in his chair once he’d finished.

His eyes filled with sorrow as his hand brushed over the family photograph he kept by his single bed. Videl… He wiped away the beginnings of a tear then shook his head. Now wasn’t the time to be thinking of such things.

"Otousaaaan!!!" Pan burst open the door, "Come on come on come on!!"

"What?" Gohan jumped up, expecting the worst, "What’s happening?!"

"The baby! ‘Ba-chan’s having the baby!" Pan raced back off down the corridor, with Gohan in tow.

Gohan was greeted by nervous faces, Goten in particular. Pan ran off to talk to Marron and Bra, who already seemed to be giggling excitedly.

"A! Nii-chan!" Goten smiled and waved. Trunks gave him a peace sign.

"How’s Misaki doing?" Gohan smiled back, a little confused by Goten’s continuous optimism.

"Don’t worry, Misaki’s strong. She’ll be fine, I know it." Goten gave a slight shrug.

"What do you think it will be Otousan?" Pan’s group joined the group that was forming around Goten.

"A weakling," Vegeta growled, "Any son of Kakarotto’s brat can’t escape that inheritance."

Goku only laughed, Goten began to get more nervous.

"It’ll probably be a boy, because I had two sons and so did my father, and since Goten’s the second son…" Goku added.

"Maybe it’s time your family broke the circle and had a girl," Said Trunks.

"Hey! We had Pan!" Gohan put on an annoyed look.

"…She’s a tomboy, does that count?" Pan hastily stepped on Bra’s foot, "Ow!"

"Gohan wasn’t the second son," Trunks pointed out, "So the bet’s on a boy is it?"

"Misaki wants a girl, but I don’t care," said Goten, not quite getting what all the fuss was about, "I just hope it’s strong!"

Unnoticed, Kei-juu stood outside the doorway, taking in what was going on. His expression flickered for a moment before he turned to walk away. He stopped, then lent against a wall to wait.

"Everyone! It’s a girl!!!" The nurse shouted.

"Wow! Really?"
"Lemme see lemme see!"
"She's adorable!"
"Can I hold her?"
"Sure, Goten."
"Congratulations."
"Thanks, Nii-chan."
"What are we going to call her?"
"I was thinking… Ki-something? Kiten?"
"Nah, that sounds like a guy’s name… how about Kisora?"
"Hey, why not? That’s cute. Kisora."
"Kisora. Life-energy and sky?"
"Uhn, she’s gonna be strong like her dad."

Kei walked away.
