It's interesting, but I think when I first started this site, my reasons for liking Goten were different. At first it was just because he was and is the single cutest anime character in the history of cute anime characters. Maybe it's more than that now. Goten may not get a huge amount of character development on screen but he goes through some pretty awful stuff (at one point he thinks his whole family is dead), and still ends up being a carefree, optimistic little kid. Maybe it's that he has a lot of potential as a character which was never realised, or maybe I'm trying to look too deeply...

Why I *started* off being a Goten fan is much easier to explain. Of the first Dragonball episodes and movies I had (yes, crappy quality, unsubbed Japanese episodes), all of the three episodes were from the "Shonen no Bu" or "Young Boy's tournament, and one of the movies was Movie 12. How could you watch those as many times as I did and not yet obsessed with Goten?! *laughs*

Another thing that helped was that I usually like to be different. Goten's a very over-looked character, because he doesn't come into DBZ until the end and is dealt a pretty poor hand in GT. Most of the DBZ fans I know are Trunks or Vegeta fans, and I felt that Goten was more in need of attention. That was one of the things that made me want to make a Goten shrine; there were plenty of shrines to Trunks, Gohan and Vegeta, and very few to the more minor characters, or even the characters like Goten who were about half way there. I figured that if no-one else would make a regularly updating Goten shrine, then I would. Three years on...

Well... here's a even easier way of explaining it...

10 reasons why I like Goten:

10: He's kawaii! Kawaii kawwwwaaaaaaaiiiiiii!!! (Cute Cute Cute!) ^^

9: He's really strong for a little kid, but doesn't use his strength to show off or anything.

8: He wants to be like his Daddy!

7: He does fusion with Trunks. Gotenks may be up himself, but he's really coooool. ^^

6: He went Super Saiyajin when he was seven! (Goku took about 25 years) And that was without training. I'd say that's pretty impressive, ne?

5: Um...er...well...um... Goten's pretty...cuuutte when he's seventeen. Okay, he's VERY cute... ^_^

4: He's very innocent. Innocent also goes with pretty thick, but hey, he's smarter than Goku. He can ride Kinto'un!

3: He eats a lot! Just like his father.

2: He's good with animals.

1: Do we really need a tenth reason?! He's perfect! Perfect I Tell You! ... I need a life...
