Chapter 6: Home sweet home

Risa put her bag down, "is this where I'm sleeping?"

Chi-Chi nodded, "We don't have a spare room, so I hope you don't mind sharing."

Risa glanced over at Goten, who flew up onto the top bunk. "That's okay, we all used to share rooms at home," she hesitated, "does he snore?"

"Oyasuminasai," said Chi-Chi as she turned off the lights.

Risa hopped into her unfamiliar bed. With a yelp she jumped out.

Goten lent over, "Huh???"

"It's soft!"

Goten rubbed his eyes, "it's 'sposed to be."

'Weird,' she muttered as she climbed back in again.

   *   *   *

Risa yawned, getting out of bed. She levitated to see if Goten was asleep. She prodded him. Goten rolled over, muttering something about cake. She prodded him again. No response.

"HEY, WAKE UP, IT'S MORNING." She yelled in one ear.

"Huh?"

"Sun's up," she pulled the curtain back, "see?"

The first few rays of light were just peeping over the horizon, "'still night." He said and flopped back down again.

Risa gave him a annoyed look and walked out into the corridor. She looked at Gokuo and Chi-Chi, both asleep and she could hear Gohan also asleep, down the hall. 'Doesn't anyone ever get up around here? I'm hungry.' Risa plodded outside, trying not to think about her stomach. The sunrise here sure looked strange. Where ever did they get the idea for a blue sky. Skies were supposed to be green, everybody knew that. She lay down on the grass, still trying not to think about her stomach. She stared up at the clouds, still trying not to think about her stomach. She stared at the beetles trying not to wonder whether she could eat them or not. If she hadn't fallen asleep she probably would have gone off in search of a frog or whatever it was they had here.

"ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZzzz…uh?"

Goten nudged Risa with his foot. "If you were going to go back to sleep again why did you get up?" He asked innocently.

"I'm hungry."

"Me too."

"I'm still hungry."

Goten stared at her and scratched the back of his head. Something about this girl told him that she was going to fit in just fine. "You coming?"

"I'm too hungry to move."

"Oh well. Can I have your breakfast?"

Risa sprang to her feet, "You didn't say it was breakfast time!" Risa zoomed back towards the house.

"Hey, maite yo!"

   *   *   *

Risa put down her twenty nineth bowl and sighed contentedly. Beside her, Goten jumped up and headed for the door.

"Where're we going now?"

"To spar. Trunks'll be coming too!" Goten raced out the door.

"I'll come too then." Risa yelled as she ran after him.

   *   *   *

Risa, Goten and Trunks stood outside on the grass.

"Can you go Super Saiyajin?" Trunks asked.

"What? You…you mean that thing you did at the budoukai? I don't know. I've never
tried."

"Well… try then."

"Um…how?"

"See?" Trunks gave Goten a meaningful glance, "I told you she couldn't go Super Saiyajin."

"I can too go Super Saiyajin, I've just don't know how to!"

Trunks poked his tongue out at her.

Risa clenched her fists. "Mnmnmnmnmnmnmmnmnhmnmhmn." She strained. "Haaa!"

After a few seconds silence her hair finally went golden.

"See! I told you I could go Super Saiyajin!" Risa flashed a victory sign and jumped up and down.

Trunks folded his arms. "Sure, but can you fight?"

"Well… I have tried that a few times."

"Hey, I wanna spar too." Goten butted in.

"Then how about it? I've never tried a three way spar before!" Said Risa.

The three stepped back.

At first the only thing Risa could see was a few pretty blurs, then nothing. She looked around in confusion. "Where'd everybody go?!"

Goten and Trunks appeared in front of her. "Are you gonna join in or what?"

Risa blinked at them. "H… how did you do that?"

"Do what?"

"Disappear."

"We didn't disappear…?" Goten looked confused.

"Heh… we're too fast!" Said Trunks with a smirk.

"Try feeling for ki, not looking for us." Goten suggested.

Goten and Trunks exchanged glances and shot back into the air.
Risa looked around frantically. They could be anywhere by now. And just how where you supposed to feel for ki anyway? She closed her eyes in concentration.

Oh…

Kinda up and to the right a bit. As she concentrated more she could almost make out their shapes. Moving faster than a blur.

Risa drifted upwards, knowing that if she joined in she'd just get beaten around.

"Hey!" She yelled out.

Goten and Trunks paused.

"Could you… um… could you teach me to be fast like you guys?"

"Sure!" Said Goten eagerly. Trunks glared at him.

"You can't just learn, you need heaps of training!"

"So? I've got heaps of time." Risa looked at him hopefully.

"No you don't, there's only a week until school starts for the year!"

"What's school?"

" 'Sa place where they make you learn stuff." Said Goten helpfully.

"What? Like new attacks and things?"

"No, like Maths." Trunks rolled his eyes.

Risa shuddered.

"Chi-Chi gets mad at me if I don't go." Said Goten looking at his feet.

Risa shuddered. She'd seen Chi-Chi mad. "Would a week be enough?"

"No." Said Trunks firmly.

"Might be. We could do it after school 's well." Goten looked at Trunks questioningly.

"Okay!" Said Risa excitedly.

Trunks stuck out his tongue. "Well you c'n train her. I've got other things to do."

Risa stuck out her tongue back.

Goten shrugged as Trunks flew off.

   *   *   *

Goten and Risa stood in the gravity room. Goten slowly turned up pressure to ten times Earth's gravity.

"Wow! It feels like home!" Said Risa excitedly. "Does it go up any higher?"

"Yep, a lot." Goten put the gauge up to one hundred g's. Risa's knees began to wobble.

"Waaak turn it down, turn it down!"

Goten put it back down to fifty. Trunk's right, this is gonna take forever.

"Oww, do you always train that high?"

"Nope."

"Phew…"

"I usually train higher."

"Ughnk." Risa stared at him. "Higher?!"

"Yup."

Risa stared at him. "Okay… so what do I do now?"

"Spar?"

"Spar?! I can barely move!"

"Yup, 's th' best way to train."

"Um… okay." Risa took a few heavy steps forward and fell over.

Goten looked down at her. "Want me to turn it down a little more?"

Risa shook her head, slowly getting to her feet. She took a few more steps forward.
She slowly threw a few punches. Goten easily dodged all of them.

Goten stepped back. "This isn't working…"

Risa shook her head in agreement.

"Maybe be you sh'd run around a bit to get used to the um… heavy stuff… you know."

"Gravity? 'K"

"Do ten laps."

"Ten?!"

"Yep."

"Sure, sure…"

Outside, Trunks giggled silently.

Goten sat down to wait.

-ten minutes later…-

"How many's that?"

"Ummm, four and one." Goten replied vaguely.

"What?"

"Lots."

"'s that enough?" She said, panting.

"Nup."

-another ten minutes later-

"'s that enough?"

"I dunno, were you counting?"

"No, I thought you were."

"Umm how many's ten again?"

"Five and five."

"I think that's lots enough then…" Something told Goten they weren't getting very far.
Probably Risa.

   *   *   *

Risa stepped out of the Gravity room. "Whuurrgh."

"Feeling lighter?"

Risa nodded.

"That's good. 'means you've got stronger. I think…"

"Is the ground supposed to be spinning?"

"I don't think so."

"Oh well. Can you tell it to stop? I feel tired."

   *   *   *

Risa stared at the ceiling, "Wha… happ'ned?"

"You fell asleep."

"No I didn't."

"Yes you did."

Risa sat up. "Why does my head hurt?"

"Well…um, you fell over?"

"Oh. Do I have to keep training?"

Goten looked surprised, "Don't you want to?"

Trunks shook his head, "I think you over did it… just a little bit."

Risa stuck her tongue out. "Doen't madder, 'm sdill gonna kedd goig."

Trunks tapped Goten on the shoulder, "Maybe you should go a little easier on her…"

Trunks stopped to think about it. "I… might be able to help…"

Goten grinned. "Sure!"

"Awww. Why does he have to help?"

"'Coz otherwise you're going to faint again." Trunks stubbornly pointed out.

"I did not faint!"

"Yes you did!"

"No I didn't!"

"Yes you did!"

"No I didn't!"

"I did not faint!"

"Yes you did!"

"No I didn't!"

"Yes you did!"

"No I didn't!"

Goten watched them for a while, then went out to get something to eat.

   *   *   *

Trunks put the gravity onto seventy g's. Risa immediately whumped onto the ground.

"Owww, don't do that so fast!"

"That was not fast."

"Yes it was."

The two fumed for a few seconds.

"Anyway. Do ten jumps. On the spot."

Risa struggled up and down for a few minutes. "Ok…ay." She panted.

"Do ten laps of the room."

"Haaai, sensei…" Flop, flop, flop.

"…"

Goten sat in the corner, "But that's just what I told her to do…"

Trunks shrugged.

Risa flopped past them again, panting.

   *   *   *

Risa lay in bed wondering why she couldn't sleep. One thing was for sure, she was tired enough. This school thingo was supposed to be tommorow.

"Goten? You awake?"

"Hmngh?"

"I can't sleep."

"Me neither. 'S coz of school. Go back to sleep."

"I'm trying to."

Risa stared at the ceiling for a while. She wondered if they'd let her paint it. White can be rather boring to stare at.

"Do you think they'll mind my tail?"

"Just say it's a belt or something. We could cut it off?"

"NO WAY!!!! If you cut off my tail I'll..." Risa paused, there wouldn't be much she could do about it if they did, "I'll... tell your 'Kaasan that you didn't do your holiday homework."
Whatever that is...

Goten gave a little whimper.

"Sorry, but I like my tail." Risa gave a small hmph. "Any way... what's this school place like?"

Goten seemed to think about this, "Um... well there's lots of kids like us... and teachers and stuff. And they make you do work." Goten made the word sound like torture.

"Like training?"

"Uh-uh. Like righting an' speling an' mats." Risa was sure he said it with spelling errors.

"Icky?"

"Icky. And tsumarinai desyo!"

Risa yawned, "Do they teach you fighting and stuff too?"

"Something like that but they call it yakyuu (Baseball) and tennis and stuff where you're not allowed to hit the other person at all!"

"Awww that sounds boring! Do we have to?"

"Well... you'd have to ask 'Kaasan." End of matter.

Risa went to sleep dreaming of fighting where no one hit each other and piles and piles of rithmatix.

   *   *   *

(Sorry about this folks, but Risa's gonna have to go to an English/Aussie school 'coz I've got next to no idea was Japanese ones are like. Except for maybe clean up duty afterwards.)

   *   *   *

Risa yawned. Blinking in the early light she searched around for whatever it was that was making that awful beeping noise. Ah, there. Risa threw it onto the ground where it smashed into a fair number of pieces. For emphasis, she jumped up and down on it for a while.

She sighed in satisfaction and lay down to go back to sleep, only to be woken up by Goten's frustrated moan.

"Why'd go have to do that?!"

"It was beeping at me! And it woke me up on purpose! It did too! It deserved it!" She said quickly in an accusing voice.

"But it's supposed to do that!" Said Goten, picking up some of the pieces.

"Really? Well, I'll just go back to sleep then."

Goten poked her.

"Owww, what was that for?" Risa whined.

"We're ment to go to school now."

"We are?" Risa looked confused, "But we didn't get up 'till the sun was that," She indicated with the width of her hand, "far from the horizon. And it's only two fingers above it now."

" 'S seven 'clock. Gotta get up now or 'Kaasan throws a fit," Goten put the wrecked alarm clock back on the shelf, "Anyway, it's breakfast time!"

Risa sniffed the air, "Yup! Noodles I think." She jumped out of bed.
