Goten's first appearance! (Oh, and  Japanese manga reads left to right. Otherwise it really doesn't make sense.)

Manga 36, chapter 424, (page 49 panel 3 :P)

When we first see Goten, is it when Gohan is leaving for school. Gohan shows Chi-Chi and Goten his new costume, the Great Saiyaman one. Goten says it's really nice, then say's that his big brother's cool.
Gohan laughs, and agrees, then leaves for school. Chi-Chi comments that Gohan looked happy.

Then there's a panel saying that this child is Goku's son and Gohan's little brother and that his name is Goten. He was born after the fight against Cell.

(Gohan gets blackmailed into entering the Tenkaichi Budokai by Videl after she learns his sercret identity. Gohan goes back to Capsule Corp to ask Bulma for help, as when he enters the Budokai, he won't be allowed to wear a helmet and everyone would be able to tell who he is. Bulma gives him a bandana and sunglasses. ("Hey Trunks, isn't this cool?" "No comment.") Vegeta finds out he's entering and decides to enter too. Then they all hear Goku's voice telling him they he'll come too, Uranai Baba will grant him life for one day. Gohan tells everyone else.)
 

Chapter 426, page 89

Gohan tells his family that Goku will be returning to life for one day. Chi-chi goes ecstatic, and tells Goten that he'll finally be able to see his father. (Goten: "?"). Gohan asks if it's alright if he enters the Budokai, then recites the prizes, ("First place is 10,000,000 zeni, second, 5,000,000 zeni..." "10,000,000 ZENI?!") Chi-Chi starts yelling that they could get 15,000,000 zeni, (Gohan looks like he's gonna have a heart attack). Chi-Chi says they should train for it.

Goten and Gohan go to bed and Gohan asks if Goten wants to train tomorrow. ("Uhn!")

The next morning. Gohan goes Super Saiyajin for training. "Yo-sh! Let's start!" "O-!"
 

Chapter 427 page 92

Gohan makes a pile of rocks and draws a line for Goten to stand behind. He tells Goten to throw rocks at him, to dodge, for training. ("Really? I won't hit you?" "It's okay, I'll dogde" "Okay then... ready?") Goten throws the rock, a little harder than Gohan was expecting... Gohan barely manages to dodge it.

"Wa-h, that's amazing onii-chan!"
"...!"
Gohan draws the line a little further back... Goten throws them from the new distance and Gohan manages to dodge all of them.

Goten asks if it's okay that he changes to look like Gohan (SSJ). "Huh? Like I look?" "That 'Supa Saiyajin' thing."
Gohan laughs, saying that you have to get very angry and it takes a lot of training to be able to go Super Saiyajin.

Goten goes Super Saiyajin.

Gohan stares.

"Go...Goten... you can do that?!"
"I forgot... (to tell you)"
"I don't believe it... My father and I had to go through all that hardwork and suffering to..."
(Goten looks surprised)

Gohan asks Goten if he wants to spar for a bit. Goten agrees, saying that he's only learnt to fight from Chi-Chi and wants to learn from his brother. Gohan asks if Goten's shown Chi-Chi that he can go Super Saiyajin, Goten says he hasn't. Gohan is relieved, and tells him that's good because Chi-Chi hates Super Saiyajin.

Goten and Gohan spar, Gohan blocks most of Goten's moves, but he's surprised by Goten's power. Gohan blocks again, then flies out of Goten's reach.

"That's not fair, Nii-chan. I can't fly!"
"What? You can't fly, but you can go Super Saiyajin?!"
"I can't fly!"
".........Oh well, I'll teach you then."

Gohan hears a jet plane and turns around. "That...'s...I don't believe it..." He sees Videl flying it. He realises she's come to learn how to fly. He lands and tells Goten there's a girl coming and he doesn't want her to see them in Super Saiyajin. They both go out of Super Saiyajin and run/jump back home.

Goten tells Gohan that his big brother's really incredibly strong. Gohan says he was surprised at Goten's strength, and asks if he wants to enter the Tenkaichi Budoukai. "Really?! ...But Trunks-kun is stronger than me. We play fight sometimes." Gohan is surprised that they play that way and wonders what's up with those two.

...meanwhile.

Chi-Chi asks if the strange girl who's arrived has really not come here for a date with Gohan. Videl hastily denies this.

Gohan greets Videl, asking how she knew where he lived. Videl says she checked the school records, then demands that he keeps his promise and teaches her how to fly. Gohan says he will. Chi-Chi asks if this is the girl he was entering the Tenkaichi Budokai with. He says she is and that he's going to teach her Bukujutsu (flying).

Chi-Chi looks annoyed, and tell them not to do anything ecchi. Videl yells that she's not going to do anything of the kind. Gohan looks very embarrassed and says she's only here for training.
 

Chapter 428, page 106

Gohan, Videl and Goten are out in the open again. Gohan says he's going to teach them Bukujutsu, (flying), but first he has to teach them how to control their Ki. He says they shouldn't try to go fast at first until they know how to control it and blah blah blah.

Videl, "How to control 'Ki'? What's 'Ki'?"
Gohan, "E? Ki's ...um... I guess you wouldn't know... It's your body's internal power that you use to create energy."
Videl,"Huh? What kind of power?"
Goten, "Like this!" Goten demonstrates ^__^... by blowing up a rock.
Gohan, "Yeah, that's the power I was talking about."
Videl, "Ah.......ri..right......"

Videl stammers that it's a trick, Gohan says she's completely wrong. Videl yells out that she doesn't understand this magic. Gohan is confused that she doesn't know how to use Ki, but says he'll teach her. He tell Goten to wait a while, as he'll have to explain it to Videl.

Goten goes off and is seen playing with... a scorpion... while Gohan tries to explain Ki to Videl.

Later on.

The group is eating lunch (prepared by Chi-Chi).

Videl thanks them for the food as they sit down to eat. Chi-Chi still looks a little put-out by her presence.

Videl,"This food's delicious! Even better than Cook's!"
Chi-Chi, "'Cook'? Do you own a restaurant?"
Videl, "No, we have a cook at our house."
Chi-Chi, "At your house? You must be rich! How many rooms does your house have? 10? 20?!"
Videl, "Um... around 50."
Chi-Chi, "50?!! You must have a LOT of money!! .....

Later on.

Gohan tells Videl that she's managed to use Ki. Videl jumps up asking if she can learn how to fly now. Gohan says she has to learn how to control it properly first.

(Goku is training at Kaio-sama's with 2-ton weights on each limb. The Kaio of the South turns up to see Goku's training. Kaio-sama boasts for a bit about his pupil's strength. The Kaio of the South wants to test Goku's strength and asks if it's okay if he tests Goku under 10 tons. Goku looks surprised, Kaio-sama says it will be okay if he goes Super Saiyajin. South Kaio changes the weights to 10 ton. Goku strains a bit. South Kaio says there's no way he could move under 40 tons of weight. Goku goes SSJ and moves around like they're nothing. South Kaio Is Surprised. Kaio-sama says Goku's training for the Budokai in 28 days.)

Sunset at the Son families home...

Videl has levitated about two centimetres. Gohan says he's surprised at her acheivement and congratulates her in getting that far in one day.

Gohan says that Goten already understood Ki control so it was easier for him. Videl looks unconvinced. She says she'll come again tomorrow. Gohan says she doesn't need to, but Videl insists that she's not good enought yet. She opens her capsule helicopter.

Gohan, "Oh, by the way..."
Videl, "What?"
Gohan, "Maybe you should cut your hair..."
Videl, "Eh? Is short hair what you like?" (She blushes, rubbing her hair)
Gohan, "Huh? No, I don't like it... But long hair gets in the way when you're fighting.
Videl, (Goes bright red and gets annoyed) You're so annoying!!!

Videl slams the door of her helicopter and leaves.

Goten, "......Why did that Onee-chan do that?"
Gohan, "....I don't get it...."

The next morning.

Goten, "Nii-chan, who's that person?"
Gohan, "A!!"
Videl arrives with short hair, "I'm here for today's training!"
Gohan, (to himself), "..........It really ...... don't understand Videl-san...."
 

Chapter 429, page 128

(Vegeta and Trunks train. Trunks goes SSJ because the gravity is too strong. Vegeta Is Surprised. He tells Trunks to stop a sec and asks if Son Gohan's little brother can go SSJ as well. Trunks says he can. (Vegeta says SSJ is going like a bargain sale). Vegeta tells Trunks that if he can hit him he will take Trunks to an amusement park. Trunks manages to graze Vegeta's cheek, and recieves a punch in return. Trunks says that Vegeta's mean and sniffs. Vegeta says he'll take him anyway and also says he can enter the Budokai. He asks how strong Goten is. Trunks replies that he's a little stronger, but Goten's one year younger and can't fly. Vegeta is annoyed that these young kids are so strong.)

Videl manages to levitate more than two metres, Gohan congratulates her again. Goten zooms around in the background. Videl asks how the kid's gotten that far in two days, Gohan pretends not to know. Gohan pulls Goten off to the side, telling him to slow down a bit while Videl's around. Videl asks what he was doing. Gohan replies that he was giving Goten some ...umm... advice!

Videl lands saying she wants to take a break. She tells Gohan that she hasn't told her Papa that she was learning how to fly. (I can't make much sense out of what Videl says here. Something about her father and a young boy. I think they're talking about the Cell game.)

Videl asks Gohan who taught him to fly/fight (?). Gohan says that person's now dead- his father (Goten lands in the background). Videl asks if his father was strong. Gohan says he was very strong. Goten blurts out that his father will be coming home and to the Tenkaichi Budokai for one day.

Videl, "Huh? Coming home? How can a dead person come home?"

Videl, "Oh I get it! Your father's spirt's coming back to the Tenkaichi Budokai."
Gohan, "Well... um..."
Videl, "No, don't worry, I understand. Well, don't forget. Training! Training!"

The caption says that Videl learns to fly properly within ten days. (^^ Goten's waving to her and holding a butterfly net.) Goten and Gohan train in Super Saiyajin for the Tenkaichi Budoukai.
 

Chapter 430, page 134

(There are a lot of funny bits that I can translate easily here, so these chapters are more detailed)

Everyone trains for the Budoukai. (Goten's throwing Ki blasts).

The group (Bulma, Vegeta, Gohan, Klilyn, Android 18, Goten, Trunks, Marron, Chi-Chi, Yamcha, Puar, Kamesennin and Gyuu Mayo) head for the island on which the Budokai is being held. Gohan asks Vegeta, Goten and Trunks to not go Super Saiyajin. Vegeta says he'll win whether they're in SSJ or not. Trunks says, "Us too."

The group arrive and look for Gokuu. The crowd starts making a fuss and they find out the Legendary Hero Mr Satan has arrived. He tells the interviewer that he's at 120%! (O_o...). The interviewer then turns to Videl and asks her about her new hairstyle. Videl tells him to shut up. ^^.

Goten, "Ah! Nii-chan, it's Piccolo-san!"
Gohan, "Piccolo-san! Have you seen Otousan?"
Piccolo, "Aa... I haven't.... Why are you wearing those clothes...?" (Gohan's in the Great Saiyaman gear)

Chi-Chi looks disappionted and wonders where Goku is. Goku lands in front of the group.
"Yaho--!"

Gokuu, "A! Everyone looks different now... but how are you all?"

Everyone runs to him, Klilyn, Gohan and Chi-Chi are in tears, Piccolo smiles, Vegeta and #18 glare, Trunks and Goten stare in surprise. Everyone runs in and hugs Gokuu.

Uranai Baba tells Gokuu that she'll see him in 24 hours, and Gokuu thanks her.

Goku then turns around to see Goten. ^^.

Piccolo tells everyone to hurry up and register.

The registar, "G...Great...?"
Gohan, "Great Saiyaman!"
Gokuu, "Huh? What's that?"

Trunks, "E?! The little boy's tournament?!"
The registar, "Of course."
Trunks, "Oi, Goten, under 15's don't get to go with the adults!"
Goten: "Eh~?"
Trunks, "That's no good! We want to fight adults!!"
Registar, "No no! That's against the rules!"
Trunks, "Cheh~~!"
Kliyln, (brightens up), "Yeah!"

The competitors leave their families and head for the try-out's stadium.

Trunks, (to Goten), "Your dead father looks just like you."
Goten, "Yeah."
Trunks, "He looks as strong as my dad."
Goten, "My brother and father are the strongest in the universe!"

Gokuu notices Android 18.

Gokuu, "Huh?! Android 18! You're Android 18 aren't you?!"
Android 18, "You only just noticed?! BA~KA! (idiot)."
Klilyn, "We live together at Muten-roshi-sama's house. And our child, a young girl."
Gokuu, (facevaults), "Huh?! A child?! ..........." (to Klilyn), "Can a robot have a child?!" (O_o)
Klilyn, "She's NOT a robot! She's an android (an improved human)."

A reporter goes up to Vegeta and Piccolo.

Reporter, "Hi~! Where you are you from?"
(Vegeta and Piccolo walk right past her)
Reporter (to camera man) "Who were those people?"
Goku and the group walk up.
Reporter, "Hi~! Where are you from?"
Gokuu, "Us? Uh... we're from another world! ^^"
Reporter, "You're joking right? ....What's that thing above your head?"
Gokuu, "That? Oh, that's because I'm dead and..."
(Piccolo uses telekinisis to blow up the camera)

The group get changed into their fighting Gi's.

Tenkaichi Budokai attendant, (to Piccolo), "You're face looks a little off-clour, are you feeling alright?!"
Piccolo, "Go away, this is normal for me."

The group is noticed by the announcer, "Yayayayayayah! You guys!"
Goku and Klilyn say hi.
"Today's such a wonderful day! I didn't expect to see you guys here! I looked forwards to seeing you again!"
(whispers to Goku) "I know the one who defeated Cell wasn't Mr Satan, it was you lot, wasn't it? I understand! The level of fighting at the Budoukai has dropped since you stopped coming! ...These are your friends?"
Gokuu, "Sort of."
Annonuncer, "That's fine, That's fine!" (to Piccolo), "You're the monster from before aren't you? Please don't kill anyone this time."
Piccolo, "Whatever."
Anonuncer, (to Gokuu), "Oh, by the way, what's that thing above your head?"
Gokuu, "Ah, I'm dead. I died in the the fight against Cell. But today I'm back from the other world."
Anouncer, ".................................... Okay! Okay! Alive or dead! Anything's okay!"

An announcement tells everyone (in the adult's tournament) to try out for the punching machine. The top 16 fighters will qualify for the Tournament.

Mr Satan arrives and poses for the cameras. Piccolo blows them up. Gohan asks why, and Piccolo replies that it was so Gohan could keep his identity a secret. Mr Satan hits the punch machine and gets 137. (Anything over 100 is considered very good). The announcer says that the 'little kids' don't need to have their strength tested and are to go to the waiting room.

Gohan excuses himself and finds Videl. Other people try, getting things between 60 and 90. Vegeta snorts, calling them pathetic.

Then Android 18 tries, Klilyn tells her to take it easy. 18 hits it lightly and gets 774. Everyone stares. The referee says is must be a foult. 18 taps it as lightly as she can. 203. Klilyn gets 192, Gokuu, 186, Piccolo 210. Vegeta tells the referee to step aside and punches the machine into oblivion. O_O.
 

Chapter 432, page 164

Gohan asks if Videl is surprised, Videl says she doesn't believe these people's strength and says she'll go home. She then asks if Gohan's afraid of these people too. Gohan sweatdrops, but agrees. Videl says the best her father's ever done is 139.

Everyone else has to wait for the new punch machine to be prepared, Gokuu and the others head for the stadium. Gokuu asks if Vegeta's going to watch the young boy's tournament. Vegeta says he will then muses about the crappy punch machine.

Videl sees them, "They're coming."
Gokuu (walks up to Gohan), "Areh?! Your friend's a girl?"
Gohan, "Uh... yes."
Klilyn, (teases)"Heeheehee, not bad! She really is a cute one!"

Gokuu tells Gohan they'll be waiting in the stadium to watch Trunks and Goten fight, and to come when they've finished. Gohan agrees. The group leaves.

Videl, "You know those people?!"
Gohan, "Yeah, the one with the spikey hair was my father."
Videl, "But your father's dead!"
Gohan, "Uh-huh, the thing above his head was a halo."
Videl, "...........what are you people?!"

The announcer begins the young boy's competition by stating the prizes (first is 10,000,000 zeni, second is 5,000,000 zeni). He then says there will be a special presentation. Mr Satan comes out, leaps into the air, skids onto the platform, slips, and lands flat on his back, banging his head. He rolls around in pain until he realises where he is, then stands up and says it was all a joke. The crowd cheers.

Goten and Trunks sit in the waiting room, talking.

Trunks, "I dunno..."
Goten, "Trunks-kun's the richest in the world. So you already have everything you want, right?"

Some bullies come up to annoy Goten and Trunks. The bully taunts Trunks until Trunks calls him an idiot and insults his hairstyle. The bully says he'll beat him in the Tournament.

Gohan and Videl are still stuck in the line. Videl realises that Goten's fighting in the tournament. Gohan realises they're missing it.

Trunks comes out to fight the bully.

Bulma, Chi-Chi and the rest of the group wait in the grandstand. The woman beside Bulma starts cheering for her son (the bully). She moans that her camera is broken. ^^ Bulma yells out for Trunks to kick his butt.

The announcer starts the match. Trunks kicks the bully's legs out then kicks him into the air. Trunks complains that it was too easy. The woman freaks over her son's loss (of the match). Klilyn says this is going to be really boring.

Goten says he's up next. Trunks complains again that it would be more fun fighting adults.
